UToledo Online - New Online Program Guide

    Step 1: Contact UToledo Online to Start the Exploration Phase

    Discussion topics will include:

    Marketability:

        • 7-week course format.
        • Competency-based education (CBE) course format.
        • Flexible start dates.
        • Program uniqueness (top program, nationally ranked, etc.).

    Course development timeline and RFP process:

        • See course development RFP and FAQ.
        • RFP’s must be submitted for each course after program approval and prior to beginning course development.
        • Develop a timeline for course development and launch (not all courses need to be built prior to program launch).

    Step 2: Approval Process

    All new programs will partner with the Provost’s Office to seek ODHE approval and notify HLC.

    Step 3: Enter Program Information into CIM

    Approvals: Department, College, Provost’s Office

        • Notifications after approval:
          • Provost’s Office-ODHE
          • CIM-Marketing
          • CIM-Registrar’s Office
          • CIM-Admissions (application)
          • CIM-UToledo Online

    Step 3: Contact Web Development and UToledo Online

    Web Development and UToledo Online will need to be contacted to update or add new programs to applicable websites.

        • A new program will have a program web page created and will be listed on The University of Toledo programs web page.
        • A new program will have an RFI created and added to the new program web page.

    UToledo Online

    Step 4: Develop Courses

        • Submit RFP’s for courses in accordance with development timeline. RFP’s may take some time to route for signatures, so plan ahead!
        • Upon approval:
            • An email will be sent to the faculty member, chair and UToledo Online staff.
            • A development site will be created in Blackboard.
            • An instructional designer will reach out to set up the first appointment for course development.
        • Faculty member(s) will work with their instructional designer throughout the development process per the RFP guidelines.

    Step 5: Program Launch

    Program goes live.
