      Details about the program
The University of Toledo’s Ph.D. program in Educational Psychology is a 60 credit-hour program. It is designed to empower students to explore the individual, cultural and contextual underpinnings of how people learn, what motivates them and what drives typical and atypical human development. Students will be encouraged to develop awareness of self and others to become effective future educational professionals.
This research-grounded program prepares graduates as scholars and practitioners to lead in academic, clinical and organizational settings. Our graduates are employed as university academic leaders, faculty, program evaluators in K-12 and higher education, curriculum developers, and school safety strategists among others.
The program caters to working professionals. Courses are offered in a blend of synchronous (via video-conferencing) and asynchronous (via Blackboard) formats. Synchronous classes and discussions are scheduled in the evenings. Students will have the opportunity to engage in research projects based on their interests. The program’s faculty help shape a personalized area of study for each student that will aim to align that area with the student’s interests and career goals.
